Christmas Window Shopping on Fifth Avenue

After Times Square and Rockefeller Center, we walked up and down Fifth Avenue to check out the super colorful, over the top window displays which are totally tricked out to lure in all the Christmas shoppers.

The best display we saw of the night was at Lord & Taylor...absolutely amazing!!! The display was a series of windows that intermingled Victorian age Christmas traditions and Lord & Taylor merchandise.

Friday Night Walk Through Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza

After seeing "Rock of Ages", John and I felt like taking a walk through Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza. One thing I love about New York is that each neighborhood in the city is so unique. We live only 2 miles away in SoHo, yet it felt like we were in a different city! I went a little crazy with the camera...plus, the bright lights of Times Square looked really amazing against the spooky, cloudy night sky.

We then walked over to Rockefeller Center. John asked me to marry him at the top of this building...Top of the Rock!

I'm proud to be an American :)

I love how you can see Rockefeller Center through the blue holiday lights.

St. Patrick's Cathedral looked especially beautiful that night. Coincidentally, it was St. Patrick's day this year that John asked me to marry him.

Date Night - Dinner and Broadway

John and I went out Friday night for dinner and a Broadway show. We had dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants and were seated near this Italian movie poster which I really liked.

This restaurant has the most beautiful lighting.

John was psyched about his steak!
We were given tickets to "Rock of Ages" by a very dear friend. What an amazing show! I snuck a picture of the set during intermission...

Then snapped a picture of us getting ready to enjoy Act II. We had the best seats in the house and could literally touch the stage from where we were sitting!

We saw two guys from the band leaving the theater just as we were, and John got them to pose with me for a picture.

Frittata with Rosemary Potatoes, Canadian Bacon, and Spinach

Yesterday morning I made a frittata, one of our favorite breakfasts, using the fresh rosemary I still had and some other ingredients I found in the fridge.
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in pan and add 1 peeled and cubed potato. Sprinkle with about 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary, reserving another teaspoon of the rosemary. Cook about 15 minutes, until potato is golden brown.

While the potatoes are cooking, prepare the remaining ingredients. Chop 3 slices canadian bacon, 1 cup fresh spinach, 1 green onion, and grate 1/4 cup cheddar cheese. Beat 3 eggs and season with salt and pepper.
Add canadian bacon to potatoes and cook about 1 minute to release the delicious scent...this will wake up anyone who is still sleeping! Add spinach, green onion, and reserved rosemary and quickly stir to combine. Pour the beaten eggs over the vegetables, reduce the heat to low and cover. Cook for about 8 minutes, until the eggs are cooked through.

Remove from heat, sprinkle with grated cheese and cover until cheese is melted.

Slice and serve...and don't forget the Tabasco if you like it spicy!

Openings and Dinner with Friends

Thursday night John and I went to two art openings in Chelsea.

We went to our friend, Francesca Gabbiani's show first at Sara Meltzer Gallery. Her work is absolutely beautiful and consist entirely of paper cutting. Every intricate detail of this piece is cut paper.

Then we went to our friend, Richard Dupont's opening at Carolina Nitsch Gallery. You can see one of his sculptures behind Vera and me. The gallery walls were covered in mirrors so that you could see his sculptures from every angle.

We went out to a Mexican dinner later that night with our friends, Bob and Vera.

Having come from Texas, I consider myself a connisseur of true Tex Mex food. It's not always that easy to find in New York, but this place was delicious!!! I ordered my favorite comfort food, cheese enchiladas.
